Thoughts on being a SAHM

Everyone keeps asking how I’m liking being a stay-at-home-mom (ethan especially) and I don’t know how to answer… and then I feel guilty for not immediately being all “omg its the best thing eva!” I LOVE spending more time with my boys. I absolutely love and adore them and love all the wonderful moments together… seeing Cooper pull and try to stand, jack making silly jokes, jack loving on cooper, cooper trying to talk, and on and on. I love that I don’t constantly feel like I’m missing everything. That’s why we’re doing this, so I can be here all the time. But that also means, I’m here ALL THE TIME.

In the span of a month, I went from being the breadwinner and working outside the home 40+ hours a week, to a stay-at-home-mom in a new town in a crummy rental home. It’s been a little bit of a difficult transition, not to mention the fact that the baby is teething and the toddler… well he’s 3. Our rent house needs some serious work like new floors so I don’t want to bother unpacking our bedrooms because well, i’d need to pack them back up in a week or two or three whenever our landlord gets it done. So we live in boxes and suitcases still; well not the boys, their room is 90% setup. So we spend most of our time in their tiny box of a room, or at the park because then I don’t have to stare at all the boxes and the toddler can run around and burn some energy so we don’t drive each other crazy.

It’s an adjustment right now. 🙂  I am working a little but I’m able to work from home right now (after the boys go to bed and Ethan is home) but I do plan to change that some soon and spend time at a coffee house so that I can get out of the house.  But for right now, I’m going a tiny bit crazy. I’m looking forward to our house not being a mess so we can do art projects and activities at home other than being trapped in a tiny box of a room.

We’ll get there. And the house will be perfectly clean all the time and dinner will be on the table promptly at 6pm when hubby gets home and the kids will be clean and unharmed. And all will be perfect 😉

p.s. – I’ve been up for 15 hours with 2 kids and just finished 2 hours of work. I haven’t proofed this post and it probably makes no sense. Excuse me while I go to bed now…

i’m back

i know you’ve been waiting by your computer in anticipation of the day i’d decide to try to get back into blogging!! 🙂 its been over a year since i last blogged and a lot has happened. in a nutshell since i last blogged: we welcomed our 2nd son, Cooper, we quit our jobs, we sold our house and we relocated to Fredericksburg where we’re still trying to get settled. we’ve only been here about 2 weeks.

quitting a job when i’ve had a career my whole adult life and transitioning to becoming a stay-at-home mom of two in a new place is leaving me feeling disconnected from the adult world and out of sorts. so i thought it might be a good time to blog a little. i need an outlet, so here i am… jabbering to a silent audience. i’m super behind on project life although i’ve continued to try to take notes and plenty of iPhone pictures so hopefully when we get fully settled in the next few weeks, i’ll find time to start playing catch up.

i have no idea what i’m going to blog about. i’m sure it won’t be that frequent (considering my history of blogging) or that interesting for that matter 😉 stay tuned i guess if i haven’t bored you to death already!

baby dos

i’m horribly behind on blogging and just everything. we’re expecting #2 thanksgiving week! hopefully baby makes arrival in time for us to be back home for a turkey day at home! 🙂 between the exhaustion and nausea of pregnancy, i’ve gotten behind on both project life and well… everything! but i’m trying to get catch up because if it doesn’t happen before baby makes an appearance, then it’ll never happen.

so i thought i’d kick off with a pregnancy focused post with some thoughts on this pregnancy thus far:

  • far, far less nausea than my pregnancy with Jackson but still enough of it that I’ve only gained a pound at 16 weeks
  • i have a hard time keeping track of how far along i am this go around. i usually have to take a look at the phone on my app, which i actually discovered today while waiting on my doctor’s office today… is actually WRONG! it has the right due date programmed in, but the calculation is off by a day! i would have figured that out months ago had this baby been Jackson 🙂
  • i’m far more anxious about something going wrong this pregnancy.
  • i felt baby move today with certainty. i’ve felt a few flutters over the last week or so, but laying down in the doctor’s office today waiting for an hour… i definitely felt the baby move and i’ve been feeling it on and off all evening which has me thinking that this time i won’t have an anterior placenta and will get to feel more of baby’s movements! *fingers crossed*

off to try to knock out one week of project life!

Project Life — Week 11 {2013}

I’m playing a bit of catch-up since I got sick during Week 11. A shortage of photos led me struggling to put this spread together. It required a lot of rework to get it to a point where I could live with it. It’s not too bad considering how much I struggled with this one!

Project Life — Week 10 {2013}

Ten weeks into my 2013 Project Life and I’m still caught up! Yay!! As much as I love paper, going digital for 2013 was the best decision that I could have made! I’m seriously still sooo loving it!

We had a good week although we had quite a few boo-boos this week including the really bad tongue biting fall that left a little chunk of dangling tongue (gross)! And another couple falls, one of which actually required band-aid treatment which was a first for us! We can usually brush off boo-boos and be on our way, but he scrapped up his finger pretty bad and it looked like it might get infected so we had to cover it in antibiotic ointment.

The highlight of our week though was having my mom (Nana) and my brother come to town for some family pictures of all of us together. When I get images on a disc, I’m planning to come back and create an insert for this week’s spread with those images! I’ll share it down the road!
